Hiring:
Age Group Leader
The Age Group Leaders will work with the Associate Resident Camp Director and Senior Program Director to create a quality summer camp program helping campers develop a sense of accomplishment, belonging and character. They will provide leadership and guidance for campers/staff, especially those involved in their age group program. They will be responsible for the daily programming and scheduling of the campers including cabin schedules and class schedules/choice activities. They will work closely with the Summer Camp Director to deal with camper and staff issues and create a successful camp experience.
Provide an emotionally and physically safe environment for our campers.
Exhibit personal habits, health, dress, speech, table etiquette and relationships with other staff that serve as a good role model to guest.
Implements character development, mission, diversity initiatives, and quality initiatives into program and member service delivery.
Provides day-to-day supervision for staff and volunteers within the department/ program. Assists with training employees and/or volunteers; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Monitors equipment, supplies, and/ or other program materials. Purchase as directed.
Obtains and evaluates counselors and obtain counselor feedback; implement changes to programs and services as directed.
Ensure cleanliness of camp.
Assist with scanning during pool time. Swim with group. Proper dress during pool time.
Manage appropriate behavior with all children and implement the Camp’s discipline policy when necessary.
Maintain positive work relationship with parents, co-workers and supervisors.
Attend staff meetings.
Follow all risk management protocol.
Ensure proper documentation maintained for all risk management situations.
Attend all training’s required for employment for the YMCA.
All other duties as assigned.
Pay Rate - $350
Job Qualifications
Required:
At least 18 years of age; preferred age 21
High School Diploma/ GED required; Associate’s degree from two-year college preferred.
CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification and Emergency Oxygen
Desire to work with individuals of all ages
Strong organizational, verbal, written and customer service skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Related experience preferred.
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs).
Preferred:
Interest in children and significant evidence of emotional maturity, good moral character, judgment, integrity and leadership capability.
Enjoyment and appreciation of the outdoors.
Ability to create and work within a Christian environment so that each camper has the opportunity for spiritual growth.
Ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
Desire to learn and apply experiences as necessary.
Strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate in a positive manner with member, participants and staff.
Camp Counselor
We are looking for a Camp Counselor to supervise young campers ages 6-15 and make sure they learn and have fun. What do Camp Counselors do? The most important out of all Camp Counselor duties is to ensure campers are safe at all times. You’ll be responsible for overseeing their activities and ensuring they don’t get lost or hurt. Being reliable and able to build good relationships with children are two essential traits of a Camp Counselor. If you’re patient, energetic but strict when needed, we’d like to meet you.
Pay Rate: $280-$300
Responsibilities
Lead recreational and educational activities (such as swimming, archery or climbing)
Escort and oversee children
Educate campers through games and explorations
Set up and maintain equipment (like archery range)
Resolve conflict and address behavioral issues
Make sure all safety rules are followed
Work together as a team to keep camp clean
Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed
Skills

LIT Leader
We are looking for a LIT Leaders to supervise rising freshmen during their two week program at camp. What do LIT's do? The most important out of all our duties is to ensure campers are safe at all times. Their first week is focused on volunteering, bonding, and becoming a leader and their second week is hiking and character building. Being reliable and able to build good relationships with teens are two essential traits of a LIT Lead. If you’re patient, energetic but strict when needed, we’d like to meet you.
Pay Rate - $325
Responsibilities

High Ropes Leader
We are looking for a High Ropes Leader to oversee and facilitate our high ropes elements including our zip lines and climbing tower/wall. So what does the High ropes leader do? You will be facilitating all of our high ropes elements. Overseeing and evaluating different high ropes support staff. You of course will be responsible for keeping kids safe while making sure people are having fun and challenging themselves.
Pay Rate - $350
Responsibilities:
With oversight from Program Director or other management staff, directs and supervises program activities to meet branch and association objectives.
Provides day-to-day supervision for staff and volunteers within the department/ program.
Monitors equipment, supplies, and/ or other program materials. Purchase as directed.
Keeps all departmental equipment in safe, operable, and clean condition. Making sure all of our High Ropes gear is clean and safe to use.
Ensure cleanliness of camp.
Facilitation of all high ropes activities such as V-Swing or Alpine Tower.
Manage appropriate behavior with all children and implement the Camp’s discipline policy when necessary.
Implement High Ropes in-services with the rest of trained staff.
Provide written evaluations of High Ropes support staff.
Maintain positive work relationship co-workers and supervisors.
Attend staff meetings.
Follow all risk management protocol.
Ensure proper documentation maintained for all risk management situations.
Attend all training’s required for employment for the YMCA.
All other duties as assigned.

Preferred experience of at least one season facilitating high ropes activities. Preferred to have also been in a leadership position over these kinds of activities.
