As a specialty counselor, you will also live in the bunk with the campers and have major general bunk responsibilities, while also spending six hours each day working in your specialty area. It is very important to understand that every staff member is first and foremost a general counselor, and serves as a role model for his or her campers. However, once the daily activities begin each morning, specialists report to their area of specialty. The head specialist will provide guidance and training to ensure each specialist performs to the best of his/her ability. Applicants must demonstrate a strong aptitude in their specialty area and must have relevant experience teaching/coaching children.
An added benefit to our program is that all coaches at Tyler Hill Camp will have the opportunity to work with our talented high school and college head coaches, thus making connections to a wide network of coaches, teachers, professors and other seasoned professionals. Past participants in our program have gone on to excel in future careers such as public speaking, education, coaching and sports management.
