Wilderness experience opportunities abound for those looking to make a difference in an outdoor setting. Unfortunately, many of these positions leave a person wondering if they had a significant therapeutic role and if the impact they did have was fleeting or long term. They wonder if the tracks they left were in the shifting sands or the bedrock laying below the sands.
Star Guides was born with the idea that field guides and therapists would work closely together to achieve consistent results while working a powerful treatment philosophy. Our field guides use wilderness living and skills to help clients develop positive life skills while working with therapists to disrupt the dynamic allowing the client to remain on developmental vacation®.
We work in the bedrock, where the work can be hard and challenging, but the tracks we leave endure.
That’s not to say we don’t have fun! We work hard to maintain a family atmosphere of respect and support and believe humor and fun are invaluable assets in dealing with life challenges. We laugh. We cry. We tread the hard ground that others fear to tread.

Employment Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Must be 21 years old or within 6 months of being 21.
Must be able to pass both state and federal background screenings.
Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screening.
Current first aid and CPR training (we can help you get this). WFR is most desirable.
Must be willing to commit to a year with us.
Must be able to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations.
