Yellowstone National Park Kayak/Naturalist Guide
Job Description
Spend your summer kayak guiding in Yellowstone National Park! This position is an excellent way to see Yellowstone the way few get to. A little about our trips: we offer two half day kayak tours per day that run 3-3.5 hours each; the first trip goes out at 8:30 AM and the sunset trip goes out around 4:30 PM. We don’t run tours in the middle of the day because high afternoon winds make it too dangerous for our guests. Our groups are the smallest size around at 1 guide per 8 guests and we paddle around 10 to 12 miles a day. Each day is a new challenge! Some are super calm and flat, and others have wind and waves so extensive experience kayaking or guiding on the water is a definite plus. Sharing the history, flora, and fauna of this area is special and people choose our trips to get off the boardwalks and away from the crowds.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for team members that are fun, safe, humble, team players, enthusiastic, self-motivated and are personable people, to lead small groups kayaking in Yellowstone National Park.
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking experienced outdoor guides that have a minimum of one to two years’ experience guiding commercially. We prefer someone with knowledge of commercial sea kayaking that knows how to perform rescues and is familiar with paddling in difficult bodies of water. Local knowledge of the flora and fauna is a definitely a plus.
About Shurr Adventures

What We Offer
Pay is $150 per 3 to 3.5 hour kayak trip. We have two trips a day which makes $300/day plus tips.
Reimbursed Level 3 ACA Kayak Trip Leader Class
Gas stipend/camping stipend
Scheduled days off
Incentive of $20 per 5 star Trip Advisor review
Friendly, safe, and fun company to work with
Where Do Guides Live
Our tours are in the heart of Yellowstone National Park. Our guides must have a reliable vehicle that they can car camp in. The part of the park we work in is far from every gate entrance city, so all guides camp in their vehicles in or near Yellowstone all summer. The daily drive from campsites is 35 to 45 minutes (15 to 20 miles of 45 mph) driving through Yellowstone when there is no Bison traffic. Amazing sunrises are a bonus to this!
