Adventure Coach


 

Headlands Coastal Lodge and Spa is a luxury retreat catering to adventure-seekers and the active Pacific NW lifestyle. Guests make themselves at home in one of 33 carefully appointed guest rooms or in a luxurious cottage, each with a balcony and ocean view.  Guests are encouraged to wander into Haystack Hall to experience the coastal vibe, and arrange for a beach bonfire, take a cooking class, make a spa appointment, or simply curl up in front of the welcoming fireplace.  Our ideal candidate will enjoy working with a team committed to the highest levels of hospitality.  Our accommodations provide a luxury experience…Oregon style. 

Job Summary:

Our Adventure Coaches come from all over to Headlands, but share a common passion for our surroundings and thrive on connecting our guests with all Pacific City and Oregon’s North Coast have to offer. Whatever you can think of, they’re up to the challenge – from beach bonfires and bird watching to crabbing and kayaking. Our Adventure Coaches are avid explorers of the Oregon Coast and love to share their discoveries—book a private outing with your personal guide for a trail hike, kayak trip or an adventure you design together.

 

Job Responsibilities/Duties (You will...):

  • Lead daily activities. Perform each activity to achieve the desired guest experience. Share with guests your love and knowledge of: area history, geology, geography, plant and animal life

  • Have an expertise in Yoga instruction and lead private and/or group yoga sessions

  • Build relationships with guests. Introduce yourself upon arrival and let them know they can count on you to deliver an experience right for them.

  • Engage guests in the brand. Share your stoke of our coastal home and let guests know of the beauty and natural wonder around every corner and how and where to find it. Share with guests what Headlands is all about and why we do what we do.

  • Actively communicate with guests before and during their arrival to share opportunities for private, complimentary group and self-guided activities. Proactively determine the needs of each guest. Offer suggestions that fit their fitness level, time restraints, interests. Share insider tips.

  • Provide assistance, when needed, to the Adventure Coordinator to book activities for guests using the designated processes and SOPs.

  • Collaborate with other Adventure Coaches, the Adventure Coordinator and the department Manager to create new, seasonal guest activities and experiences. Use the brand as lens to determine which activities are right for Headlands.

  • Ensure adventure equipment is properly stored and guest-ready at all times.

  • Be a local expert. Know the activities, unique history, flora and fauna of the Pacific City and North Coast area.

  • Work as a team. Recognize when a team member may need support and lend a hand; welcome desk, housekeeping, Maintenance, Meridian.

  • Support the lodge daily operations; answer calls, make reservations, deliver amenities, respond to guest requests, stock pantries, prepare for arriving guests, other tasks as needed.

  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, stretch, push, pull, climb, and kneel for prolonged periods of time

  • Work in a variety of weather conditions

Qualifications (You will bring…):

  • 1-2 years’ experience leading private group tours/activities, preferably outdoors

  • Certified Yoga instructor (preferred)

  • Knowledge and/or expertise in the area history, geology, geography, plant, and animal life

  • Be flexible with work schedules, job duties and job locations

  • Be comfortable speaking in front of groups 

  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, always remaining calm & courteous, and ability to connect with them.

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and work cohesively as part of a team

Join our team at Stimulus Coffee and Bakery in Pacific City, Oregon! Pacific City is popular for guests seeking an authentic Oregon beach experience. Surfers and beach goers spend their day playing in the ocean just steps from our espresso bar and bakery. We consistently join together to deliver an exceptional experience for them.

 

What you get to do:

  • Enjoy creating high quality beverages in a fun atmosphere right on the beach.

  • Show pride in exceeding food-handling standards by continuously inspecting food preparation and serving areas.

  • Prepare sweet and savory pastries and meals for beach goers.

  • Join the conversations with guests and provide information on recreational adventures and local events. Show them photos!

  • Mentor less experienced baristas as well as lean on your teammates to continuously learn.

  • Set yourself and your team up for success by completing inventory, stocking food, and prepping for service.

 Compensation:  We guarantee that all team members earn at least $15.00 per hour.  You will be paid $12.75 hourly rate of pay plus tip share.
