Operations Manager - Juneau

The Operations Manager in Juneau is responsible for the supervision of canopy operations including, but not limited to training, compliance of canopy guides, adherence to industry safety standards, maintenance of Canopy Course, and related administrative duties. 

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Ensures all course operations are conducted in accordance with company’s safety standards

  • Ensures all tours are operated in timely manner and in accordance with operational procedures

  • Responsible for conducting daily and weekly course inspections

  • Tracks usage of all course equipment’s and materials

  • Manages daily schedules for canopy personnel 

 

Zipline Guide - Juneau


 

JUNEAU ZIPLINE OPERATIONS

$15.00 / hour

A Zipline guide is responsible for instructing and leading participant groups onto zip course with another zipline guide. This position may require prior knowledge of climbing and rappelling, and applicants must have a strong risk management orientation. Qualified applicants will go through an extensive training program and must pass a written and on-the-job skill test. Additional training is provided for any job description changes once the initial training program is completed.

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Zipline guide is responsible for assisting in the progress of a participant group

  • Must be able to complete an inspection of all course components and of all course gear

  • Must be able to fit harnesses and helmets correctly as well as supervise the use of all personal and group safety equipment

  • Must be able to assist in a Participant Orientation Session and evaluate potential group risks

  • Assist with course maintenance efforts as required

Salary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of canopy course operations. This position requires strong understanding of and experience with canopy tour operations and training standards. Applicants must have risk management background. Qualified applicants will go through a training program and must pass written and on-the-job skill tests before hired.

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for supervision of zip course operations

  • Ensures all course operations are conducted in accordance with company’s safety standards

  • Ensures all tours are operated in timely manner and in accordance with operational procedures

  • Responsible for conducting daily and weekly course inspections

  • Monitors and supervises all participant groups when the course is in operation

  • Certified to assist in training staff at all levels

  • Certified in all skills required of a lead guide

  • Ensures that all required documentation of course operations is maintained and regularly updated

  • Assists in maintaining documentation of the usage of all course equipment

 

Dock Representative - Juneau


 

JUNEAU ZIPLINE OPERATIONS

$15.00 / hour

Dock Reps are responsible for meeting and directing arriving/departing guests to their tour. Qualified employee must possess the knowledge of the entire tour and able to explain all the facts to guest. Applicants must have strong customer service orientation and understanding of financial transactions. Represent company to cruise lines, groups and individual customers.

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Provides sales support for company products; help with dispatching transportation, brochure distribution, collection of payments, maintaining sales records, and soliciting feedback on tour quality

  • Establishes a warm, welcoming, and friendly relationship with guests

  • Performs the initial screening procedure to determine participants eligibility

  • Work closely with tour site to coordinate ship counts and tour allocations

  • Remains in constant radio and/or cell phone contact with tour site

  • Clearly communicate the problems that may arise due to natural and logistic
    challenges to cruise line personnel and guests

  • Work closely with cruise line and transportation company personnel to ensure a
    cooperative and positive working environment

 

Dock Operations Lead - Juneau


 

JUNEAU ZIPLINE OPERATIONS

Salary

The Dock Operations Lead is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and coordination of daily tours and collection of services provided to cruise lines and other customers. This position serves as the liaison between the company and cruise lines as well as the transportation companies. Applicants must have a tourism industry background with experience in financial transactions and customer service.

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinates and manages daily tour departures and related activities

  • Work closely with transportation to coordinate ship counts and tour allocations

  • Prepares daily schedules and ensure timely departure of tours

  • Keeps detailed, accurate and precise records of ship financial and other pertinent information

  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and settling of all tour products for each ship

  • Maintain and cultivate a friendly & professional working relationship with all cruise line personnel and strengthen relationship with company

  • Monitor quality control of all services and products and make suggestions for improvement

  • Provides and maintains tour brochures and flyers for onboard sales

 

Zipline Guide - Ketchikan


 

KETCHIKAN SANCTUARY GUIDES

$15.00 / hour

Transportation Coordinator - Ketchikan


 

KETCHIKAN SANCTUARY SERVICE HOSTS

$16.00 / hour

This position is responsible for all tour groups arriving back to their ship at the scheduled time.  This individual works closely with the independent tour and dispatch desk.  This job requires an individual who is organized, prompt, can multi-task, and has high energy and enjoys working with the public.  This person is the last point of contact with the tour guests and will be responsible for making sure their transfers go smoothly.

 

Summary of essential job functions

  • Must become very knowledgeable about the tours and the timing of the tours

  • Responsible for all bus transfers

  • Responsible for reporting any changes of departures to the dock, bus company and manager

  • Assists with independent guest transfers

  •  Assists with call-outs and communicate with ground support

  • Assists the gift store and photo counter as needed

  • Adheres to all company standards of safety, security and confidentiality

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Adventure Kart Guide - Ketchikan


 

KETCHIKAN ADVENTURE KARTS

$15.00 / hour

Guide visitors in a professional, courteous, and informative manner at Whipple Creek, while being responsible for the safety and well-being of guests during tour operations. This position is responsible for all duties associated with tours: guide, open and close of building, cleaning site and gear, and fueling karts. 

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions 

  • Monitor tour site for any potential danger to guests or staff. Respond to any hazardous situation according to established guidelines.

  • Guide visitors throughout entire kart expedition tour.

  • Maintain daily logs--tour report summaries.

  • Assist in daily opening and closing of tour site.

  • Transport visitors to and from the tour sight in a safe and professional manner.

  • Maintain radio communication with Lead Guide and/or site manager and Dock throughout tour using established radio procedures.

  • Daily cleaning of all gear used for tours.

  • Stocking and/or selling retail items.

  • Fueling, washing, checking oil in, and putting air in tires for the karts

  • Other duties as assigned

We are local and have a deep Alaskan legacy. We have been serving the local community for more than 40 years, first through Taquan Air and then later, through ground tours. Owner Brien Salazar is deeply committed to the region, supplying scheduled and charter service to remote towns, providing year-round and seasonal job opportunities and sharing his love for the world’s largest temperate forest with locals and tourists alike. We support our community with volunteer time, donations and more.

Kawanti Adventures has been certified under the Adventure Green Alaska program. This is a voluntary program for Alaska tourism businesses that meet economic, environmental and social sustainability criteria.
