Equestrian Director

 

Well-known riding program within a unique international Maine summer camp seeking a bright, hard-working Horse Director.

Program features:

  • Modern barn and facilities

  • Healthy, willing horses

  • 2 riding rings, miles of trails, and small group sizes

  • Supportive, knowledgeable directors

  • Barn assistant and experienced teaching staff to assist you

Candidates must have:

  • Experience teaching horse riding 

  • A history of positive working relationships with children a plus

  • Knowledge of horsemanship, horse nutrition, basic medical care, behavioral management, etc.

  • Leadership experience with humans!

  • Time management and organizational skills

Adventure Trip Co-Leader - Wilderness:

Co-direct a small, wilderness adventure program for teens. 10 campers and 2 staff paddle Maine's rivers, hike Mt Katahdin, enjoy sea kayaking, hiking, rafting, etc. A trip of a lifetime for teens and their leaders. To meet regs, must be 21+ and have WFR. We can provide LGT.


Aquatics Director:

 

Organize daily activities at lakefront and pool. Co-lead dynamic training sessions (LGT, emergency drills, etc.) and supervise lifeguarding and teaching staff, monitor facilities, etc. Teach swimming, windsurfing and boating. Candidates should have LGT and experience in similar settings.

Equestrian Program Staff:

 

Teach a range of skills levels with a focus on dressage, vaulting, trail rides in spacious rings and miles of forested trails. Work with co-instructors to determine daily lesson plans and activities. Must have prior teaching experience.

Program Staff - Archery:

 

Facilitate all aspects of introductory and intermediate archery, support children's skill development. Reqs: Experience teaching children, ability to work in a non-competitive environment, comfortable working in a group setting. Credentials preferred but not essential.

Ropes/ Challenge Course Program Staff:

 

Facilitate all aspects of experience extensive course including team-building and group work as well as high ropes course with multiple elements. Lead initiative activities, group building and technical climbing, work 1-on-1 and with groups to support children’s adventures and personal growth.

Videographer & Video Instructor :

 

Document camp events for promotional production and media library; produce camper-created videos. Dual-position includes daily filming, off-loading, etc., and work with small groups of children as they write and produce short films. Requires prior editing experience.

Woodworking Program Staff:

Help to develop and implement woodshop curriculum, work one on one and with groups of children to support their creative efforts and interests in the area of woodworking. Full woodshop with power and hand tools. Metal work incorporated.


 

Glass Crafts Staff:

Work alongside other craftspeople in teaching stained glass, glass blowing and glass fusing to creative independent children ages 8-15. Relevant skills and experience welcome and essential.


 

Music/ Guitar Program Stafff:

Develop and implement creative musical curriculum in guitar, ukulele and rock band (drums, bass, guitar.) Work one on one and with groups of children to support their creative efforts and interests in the area of music. Organize short performances for camp.

Located in coastal Maine, our co-ed summer sleep away camp features distinctive programs for girls & boys ages 8 to 14. Depending on your interest, HVC is a visual arts camp, a horse camp, an adventure camp, a performing arts camp, a nature camp, a water camp, a sports camp and much more!

Working at Hidden Valley Camp:

We seek warm, bright, energetic, child-centered individuals for our staff of over 100 summer camp counselors and support staff. In anticipation of an important professional relationship, we interview each candidate, looking for significant personal resources and accomplishments, talents in camp areas, self-awareness, solid judgment, and a capacity to participate productively in a child-centered environment. References and background checks are a required part of this process.
