Safety Patroller


 

Up to 20 hrs per week off-season and up to 35 hrs per week, March through October or November. FLG X Adventure Course, Ledgewood, NJ. This is a variable-hour part-time seasonal position. You may be posted and standing out along the Course to monitor guest safety for long periods of time (8-12+ hours). This position is focused on safety and guest service. You may work with signing people in, issuing harnesses, taking payments, selling various items from the store. You will be responsible for our guests understanding how to safely, and enjoyable, make their way through the Course or Courses. You may greet guests and instruct them in safety procedures and/or demonstrate those procedures. You may be posted out along the Course to monitor guest safety. We require safety-minded, energetic individuals to monitor guest activities and safety. A person in this role must be exceptional and comfortable at interacting with guests, encouraging them, and enforcing safety requirements. Our guests will come from a broad range of culturally diverse backgrounds and nations. A person in this role must remain in proactive communication with the Course Manager or other personnel as directed from time to time by the Course Manager regarding scheduling, training, direction and risk management procedures. A person in this role may be asked to perform other tasks or given other responsibilities at any time.

Qualifications: Must be comfortable outdoors and at heights, have an understanding of the basic usage of climbing equipment and be able to stand for long periods of time. Some lifting is required and additional physical minimum performance levels may be validated through testing.

Hold a current & valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification (minimum) ¨ Drug testing may be conducted, we are drug and smoke-free employer. ¨ Be able to work in the USA ¨ Prior experience outdoor activity, rock climbing, climbing gym, challenge course, zip line tour company or other relevant paid or personal skills ¨ Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred plus two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. ¨ Experience and enjoyment working with a diversity of children & adults (youth, adults, corporate). ¨

Seasoned skills and certification in other program activities is desired. (Corporate Teambuilding, Summer Camp Counselor, Sports Coach, etc) ¨ Fluency in a second language is a plus (Spanish, European Languages)

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor guests for safety rule compliance.

  • Adhere to all safety rules, must be clipped into safety lines when on any part of the Course

  • Greet groups of guests and instruct them in proper equipment use.

  • Present the operational and safety rules to guests verbally.

  • Demonstrate to guests the use of the various elements of the Course.

  • Observe the capabilities of guests’ use of the various elements of the Course.

  • Assist the Course Manager, or other leaders, with any tasks as assigned.

  • Assist in proper maintenance, inventory, logging, daily set-up & clean up, and inspections (pre/post daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly) of the Course and all equipment required. Elements/Games, gear, harnesses, and other equipment

  • Ensure that a high-quality program is offered, and maintains the industry standards in all aspects.

  • Proactive repair and/or replacement of equipment as necessary in coordination with Course Manager

  • Ensuring completion of Course shift, safety and equipment logs

  • General upkeep of Course facilities & equipment

  • Seasonal opening and closing of facilities

  • Attend pre-season and in-service training of Staff in Techniques & Skills related to Course operations

  • Attend pre-season and in-service training of Staff in emergency procedures.

What type of people are we looking for?

  • Prior to opening to the public (initial hires) site clean up, trail work, gear inspections, office set up, course prep, and generally hard outdoor work will be the focus.

  • Submit to Drug Screening when requested.

  • Be able to work in the USA

  • Prior experience rock climbing, climbing gym, challenge course, zip line tour company or other skills

  • Experience and enjoyment working with a diversity of children & adults

Rescue Guide


 

Part Time (up to 35 hours per week depending on guest volume) prior experience/knowledge of FLG X safety policies and procedures, and successful completion FLG X Rescue Guide training. This position is typically promoted from current staff after Safety Patrol experience.
