Wilderness Trip Leader

Are you ready for a summer of amazing experiences and memories that will last a lifetime?  Consider applying to join our team of fun-loving, responsible, and dedicated counselors and find a true sense of purpose and value this summer!

Camp Walden a traditional summer overnight camp for girls in Denmark, ME, is searching for a Wilderness Trip Leader.  We are looking for enthusiastic, responsible, and spirited individuals who are excited to serve as guides and role models for our campers.

Founded in 1916 our small, closely knit Walden family of 150 girls, ages 8-15, enables each camper the opportunity to fully develop their personality and skills.  Walden prides itself on creating an atmosphere that encourages self-confidence, promotes leadership skills, and provides a trusting and secure environment where our campers can thrive.

One tradition at Walden is that all of our campers participate in wilderness canoeing and hiking trips of 2 to 4 days in length.  We are searching for individuals who love the outdoors and have experience taking wilderness trips with young people to lead these trips and share their passion for the outdoors with our campers.  While at camp you will spend most of every week on one or more camping trip.  Female staff live in cabins with campers while in camp, male staff live in separate housing and both are integral parts of the close Walden community. Candidates should have experience leading wilderness trips with young people. Camp will provide a Wilderness First Aid certification for you while at camp.

Dates of employment: June 4 – August 9, 2025.

Starting salary is $3,000, plus all meals, housing, laundry and travel included for the summer
