Camp Counselor


 

Hiring counselors for a sleep-away camp for children and adults with disabilities in Paradise, Texas. This is a 3-month seasonal position.

Camp Summit is a residential or “sleep away” camp for children and adults with disabilities (ages 6-99). Camp Summit hires seasonal staff each summer and fall to fulfill a safe ratio of two campers to every one staff member. Staff members live in the cabins with the campers during their one-week stay. Many of our staff are college students pursuing fields of human interest, education, special education, special needs, etc.

Camp Counselor Responsibilities

Camp Counselor Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must be able to commit to 3-month position

  • Backgrounds we look for: Counselor, special education, teacher, special needs, personal care, etc.

Camp Summit is looking for candidates with the following qualities: team-player, responsible, ability to think on your feet, willing to pivot when needed, etc.

During weeklong camp sessions, campers are offered a wide variety of traditional camp activities in our barrier-free environment including swimming, archery, ropes course, arts & crafts, sports & games, and more!

Camp Summit is a one-of-a-kind camp for individuals with disabilities where the emphasis is on each campers' abilities rather than their disabilities. Traditional camp activities are adapted to each individual, provided in our barrier-free facilities, and implemented by trained, caring staff. Our campers are grouped by age, providing the opportunity to make friends within peer groups while having fun and experiencing new adventures.

Camp Summit is located in Paradise, Texas, just north of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex on 460 acres of land. We are accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed as a Youth Camp in the State of Texas. Learn More Here: https://www.campsummittx.org/jobs
