Hiring:
Mountaineering Instructor (Outdoor Adventure Camp Counselor)
Job Description: The Mountaineering Instructor position is a seasonal, full-time staff member who teaches and leads trips for our campers. Mountaineering Instructors are especially skilled in one or more of the following: backpacking, outdoor living skills, rock climbing, caving, and challenge course facilitation/management.
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years or older (Preferably 21 or older).
Must hold at least a Wilderness First Aid medical certification or higher (or be willing to obtain one).
Must have previous experience in Mountaineering activities.
Must have experience teaching or facilitating groups in some capacity.
Must possess a high degree of organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, and ability to adapt to frequently changing programmatic needs.
Must be comfortable with physical requirements of working at camp including endurance for prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; willing to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities; and with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and animals such as bugs, snakes, bats, etc.
