Summer Counselors and Coaches


 

Come and have the summer of your life in the mountains of New York and only 2 hours from New York City! Camp Lokanda is looking for energetic, motivated and positive individuals to join our staff this summer!

We are looking for General Counselors and Activity Counselors and Coaches for our various Sports, Water, Creative Arts, Performing Arts and Adventure areas.

Many of our staff, from a variety of majors, have been able to gain internship credit through their school. We provide a great salary, as well as housing, laundry and meals for the summer.

Our General Counselors supervise their campers throughout the day at meals, daily activities, and in the bunks. General Counselors get to experience all of the activities that we have at camp, with your campers! We are looking for both male and female General Counselors to work with all of our age groups (from 7 years old up to 16 year olds).

Our Activity Counselors share their skills with campers who rotate through their activities. They also get involved with the campers in the bunks, at meal times, and at evening activities. Some of our activity areas include:

  • Sports: Flag Football, Pickleball, Baseball, Golf, Lacrosse, Tennis

  • Water: Lifeguards, Swim Instruction, Boating

  • Creative Arts: Woodshop, Photography

  • Performing Arts: Music

  • Adventure: High Ropes, Zip Line, Climbing Wall, Go-Karts

  • STEM: Hands-on experiments with Rockets, Nature and Science

 

Dates:

June 18, 2022 to August 13, 2022. Some activity staff come earlier for training.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have completed one year of college by the summer.

  • Coaches should have at least 1 year of coaching experience or extensive experience playing that sport.

  • Clean Background Check

 

Additional Information About Camp Lokanda

Camp Lokanda is one of the premier camps on the eastern coast of the United States. We are located 2 hours from New York City, set in the amazing Catskill Mountains, on Lake Loch Ada, from which we named our camp. We have been around for over 80 years. We are a coed traditional sleep-away camp and have about 450 campers, ranging from ages 7 to 17 and 250 staff.

Lokanda prides itself on being a safe, fun environment for everyone to grow and develop. As you take good care of our campers, we in turn take good care of you. We provide a great salary as well as housing, food and laundry for the summer.
