Camp Director

Purpose of Job: Provide a fun and safe recreational experience for children and adults with disabilities through all programs and ensure the recruitment, training, supervision, and mentorship of qualified staff and volunteers to support all programs.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop and implement all program aspects of Summer Camp and assigned School-Year programs, including recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and mentorship of staff and volunteers.
Directly supervise Assistant Camp Director and provide support to School-Year programs as needed or assigned. • Work collaboratively with healthcare, kitchen, and maintenance to support all CAMP programs. • Be on-site or on-call for all assigned programs.
Develop and implement sound policies for Summer Camp and School-Year programs, including crisis and emergency management plans.
Manage, support, interact, train others, and de-escalate individuals with disabilities who display significant physical behavioral challenges.
Work with Volunteer Services to develop and implement plans for recruitment and retention of staff and volunteers for all programs.
Assist with budgeting and managing financial aspects for all programs.
Ensure safety of all persons on CAMP grounds.
Manage compliance with ACA, Health Department, and all other authority regulations, including maintaining current written documentation as required.
Complete all assigned documentation within timelines defined by organizational policy or supervisors’ written expectations, including, but not limited to, end of session reports, seasonal staff payroll requisitions, and purchase requisitions.
Develop and lead a culture of dignity, respect, belonging, accountability, integrity, support, and mentorship for all programs.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in disabilities camping required.
Willingness to pursue additional academic and/or camp-related education/continuing education. • Supervisory experience in camping programs.
Experience in working with and developing programming for individuals who have disabilities. • CPI Certification, preferred
Excellent communication skills - both written and spoken.
Ability to treat all people with respect, dignity, integrity, and professionalism.
At least 25 years of age
Work Schedule: In general employee should work not less than 38 hours and not greater than 45 hours per week during the school year and will work maximum hours necessary during the Summer Camp season.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform all required job tasks in a climate-controlled office and outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions and must possess the physical energy needed to perform duties during a 15-hour day, 6-day week.
Camper Care Supervisor

Purpose of Job: Provide strategic support, management, mentorship, training, recruitment, and supervision of Campers and Volunteer Counselors participating in all programs.
Essential Job Functions:
Ensure safety of all persons in all CAMP programs.
Directly supervise and provide support for all programs and be on-site or on-call, as needed or assigned. • Provide direct service support to individual campers, including reviewing personal information provided by parents, and creating (as needed) an individual camper care and behavior plan that will meet the required accommodations of campers who need additional support.
Serve as a leader on CAMP’s Crisis Management Team, assisting or directing the management of individuals with disabilities who display significant physical behavioral challenges.
Ensure the Assistant Camp Director and appropriate staff are informed of all camper situations and issues as they arise.
Directly supervise and provide primary strategic support to Unit Leaders and Camper Support Specialist during Summer Camp.
Serve as primary program liaison with Family Support to develop and implement plans for camper acceptance, family requests, appropriate camper accommodations, and skilled recruitment to support campers with greater needs.
Assist with budgeting and managing financial aspects of assigned programs, including ordering supplies and equipment necessary to support programs.
Complete all assigned documentation of Camper Care issues and relevant communications with parents/staff within timeline defined by organizational policies or supervisors’ written expectations.
Assist Assistant Camp Director in working with volunteer services to develop and implement plans for recruitment, retention, training, and supervision of seasonal staff and volunteers for all programs, including site supervisors, as appropriate.
Assist in developing and leading a culture of dignity, respect, belonging, safety, accountability, integrity, support, and mentorship for all programs.
Assist with ACA and Health Department compliance, including maintaining current written documentation, as required.
Assist Camping Team in developing sound policies and procedures and implementation for each program, including crisis and emergency management plans.
Qualifications:
Associates degree or higher in education, management, or recreation (or equivalent).
CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) preferred.
Willing to pursue additional academic, educational, and/or camp-related instruction.
Supervisory experience in camping programs preferred.
Knowledge of developmental disabilities and ability to assist in management of challenging behaviors in children and adults (CPI Certification Preferred).
Experience with designing and implementing programs for people who have disabilities. • Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal.
Ability to treat all people with respect, dignity, and professionalism.
At least 21 years of age.
Current CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.

Core Staff – the Camp CAMP leadership team
Unit Leaders (ULs) - responsible for the supervision and training of all cabin staff. Coordinate with the Camper Care Supervisor and Program Supervisor to facilitate team interaction and the development of individual leadership skills. Act as the liaison between the Chief Cabin Counselor and the supervisors. Supervised by Camp Care Supervisor.
Program Coordinators (PC) - responsible for the supervision and training of all PALS (Program Activity Leaders). Coordinates with the ACD and Program Supervisor to facilitate team interaction and the development of individual leadership skills, and develops, coordinates, and implements all regular and special activities and programs at Camp CAMP. Acts as the liaison between the Activity Staff and the Program Supervisor. Supervised by Program Supervisor.
SEALS Coordinators (SC) - responsible for the supervision and training of all SEALS (Swing, Equine, Aquatics Leadership Staff) Coordinates with the ACD and Program Supervisor to facilitate team interaction and the development of individual leadership skills, and develops, coordinates, and implements all regular and special activities and programs at Camp CAMP. Acts as the liaison between the SEALS Staff and the Program Supervisor. Supervised by Program Supervisor.
Camper Support Specialist (CSS) – provides mental, emotional, social, and behavioral health support for Campers, and coaches Staff and Volunteers in managing these areas. Coordinates with the Core Staff to facilitate team interaction and the development of individual leadership and behavior management skills throughout Camp CAMP. Supervised by Camper Care Supervisor.
Staff Support Specialist (SSS) – provides mental, emotional, social, and behavioral health support for Lead Staff and coaches Staff in managing Volunteers in these areas. Coordinates with the Core Staff to facilitate team interaction and the development of individual leadership and MESH skills throughout Camp CAMP. Supervised by Head Nurse.
Volunteer Support Specialist (VSS) – Support Volunteer Staff and work with the Assistant Camp Director to supervise all Volunteers, supervise and support the Leader In Training (LIT) Program in conjunction with Assistant Camp Director. Coordinate with Unit Leaders on Volunteer Tribe assignments and Volunteer Evaluations to support volunteers throughout Camp CAMP. Supervised by Assistant Camp Director.
Activity Staff- Responsible for planning and managing daily CAMP programs.
SEALS (Swing, Equine, Aquatics Leadership Staff) - Activities staff who are assigned/trained/and certified to work the high risk activity areas of CAMP. Those activity areas being Swing, Equine, and Aquatics. Supervised by SEALS Coordinator.
PAL - Program activity leaders assist with implementation of assigned camp activities. Supervised by Program Coordinator.
Photographer - Responsible for taking photos of campers, staff, volunteers, and programs in action. Supervised by Program Supervisor.
Tribe Staff- work directly with campers in the cabins. Responsible for camper care.
Chief Cabin Counselors (CCC) - Responsible for all campers and counselors in their Tribe (Tribes may switch every week), assisting and training all counselors assigned to their Tribe, and checking campers in and out with parents/caregivers. Supervised by ULs.
Assistant Cabin Counselors (As) - Responsible for keeping campers engaged – in all activities and during all down time – and may take leadership of their Tribe in the absence of the CCC (Tribes may switch every week). Assistant Cabin Counselors may act as Cabin Staff one week and float as a supervisor another week. Supervised by CCCs.
Cabin Staff - Primary responsibilities are typically to serve as a 1:1 counselor with a specific camper, but other duties may be assigned based on needs. Supervised by CCCs or others as applicable.
Healthcare Staff
Healthcare Center Assistant – Assists the Head Nurse in managing the business of the Healthcare Center and keeping it clean and orderly, assists the Head Nurse in accomplishing their duties, and serves as a resource to Healthcare Volunteers. Supervised by the Head Nurse.
Support Staff
Maintenance Staff - Assist Facilities staff in maintenance, general upkeep, and cleanliness of grounds and buildings. Supervised by Director of Facilities Operations.
Housekeeping Staff - Assist Facilities staff in cleanliness of grounds and assigned buildings. Supervised by Hospitality Manager.
Office Assistant - Responsible for managing the Camp CAMP Office. Supervised by Assistant Camp Director.
Kitchen Staff
Executive Chef - Responsible for assisting with menu planning and ordering food, arranging schedules, maintaining the Kitchen in compliance with Texas Food Safety and Youth Camp Licensing codes with respect to cleanliness and organization, preparing and ensuring meals are served on time, managing other Kitchen Staff, and other duties as assigned. Supervised by Hospitality Manager.
Assistant Executive Chef – Assists Executive Chef with menu planning and ordering food, arranging schedules, maintaining the Kitchen in compliance with Texas Food Safety and Youth Camp Licensing codes with respect to cleanliness and organization, preparing and ensuring meals are served on time, managing other Kitchen Staff, and other duties as assigned. Supervised by Executive Chef.
Sous Chefs/Cooks - Responsible for preparing, serving, and cleaning up after all meals. Supervised by Executive Chef/Assistant Executive Chef.
Food Service Worker - Responsible for cleanup and kitchen assistance as directed by Chefs/Cooks. Supervised by Executive Chef/Assistant Executive Chef.
