Recreation & Activities Guide
Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts in Tofte, Minnesota is seeking full time, seasonal Recreation and Activities Guides for the summer 2024 season. (Mid-May through Mid-August with extension potentials)
The Recreation & Activities Guide duties include, but are not limited to, leading daily scheduled outdoor recreation activities such as Hiking, Biking, Kayaking, Canoeing, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and crafting programs. Other activities are also offered such as kid’s programs, naturalist programs, and winery shuttles. Staff members will maintain a positive and enthusiastic approach in maintaining daily operations of the Recreation & Activities department which includes a task list provided by the Activities Coordinator to be completed between scheduled activities. This position requires daily upkeep and managing of inventory, and most importantly bringing exceptional customer service through safe and engaging activities.
Reports To: Recreation & Activities Coordinator
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Duties
Follow daily procedures for opening and closing activities center.
Conduct and participate in outdoor programs and tours including but not limited to: Hiking, Biking, Kayaking, Canoeing, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and crafting programs.
Assist Activities Coordinator in a variety of tasks related to the Activities Department.
Assist Kids Program Coordinator in various kids’ programs.
Set up, tear down, and clean up after programs, tours, arts, and crafts.
Maintain activities supplies and equipment- ensure they are in a neat and working order.
Keep all activities areas well-kept and clean.
Report inventory needs and broken equipment to the Activities Coordinator.
Responsible for sign out procedures of equipment.
Leaf blow all entrances at the Guest Services building and tennis courts.
Be aware and knowledgeable of Bluefin activities and local area events.
Assist in updating activities boards, fliers, pamphlets, and schedules.
Help with occasional special event shuttles (i.e. weddings).
Follow any other tasks as requested by the Activities Coordinator.

Qualifications
Education and experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training.
Language Skills and Reasoning Ability
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to guests and other team members.
Ability to communicate needs and/or concerns to his/her supervisor.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions furnished in written or verbal form.
Ability to manage risk safely and efficiently.
Certifications
CPR and First Aid (Provided by Bluefin)
Driver’s Safety Course (Provided by Bluefin) *Must have a valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands
Lift up to 50 lbs without assistance and over 100 with assistance – items such as kayaks, canoes, and bike equipment.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to sit, climb, and balance.
Ability to hike over uneven terrain up to five miles.
Line Cook
To participate in the preparation of food in our Grille Kitchen. The employee will assemble items for various entrees to certain standards and specifications. A successful candidate will help fulfill our mission to deliver exceptional hospitality to all guests.
Dates: Required timeframe May – October but would preferred full-time, year-round interest with a start date ASAP
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares and assembles various meal items in a timely manner
Follows instructions and recipes
Keeps a sanitary and organized workstation
Restocks items as needed
Uses and maintains cooking station and equipment
Assists with cleaning, sanitation and other organizational duties
Provides support to the cooking staff and preforms any additional tasks requested by Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager
Qualifications:
Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
Professional communication skills are required.
Ability to take direction.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.

Housekeeper
Works as part of a team to clean and prepare guest lodging accommodations and public areas for use
SAMPLING OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleans and prepares guest units for occupancy through proper application of company specified cleaning procedures.
Stocks and/or maintains specified products in required quantities to adequately clean assigned units.
Completes the daily unit assignments; correctly identifying the status of each assigned unit and, reports any maintenance problems or product shortages.
Maintains security for guests and property by keeping unit doors and windows shut and locked at all times; setting the thermostats to proper temperature for the season, reporting any suspicious activity by guests or others; properly labeling lost and found articles and turning them in daily; observing all other security and safety regulations as set forth.
Performs other tasks as assigned by the executive housekeeper or supervisor: (i.e. cleaning public or employee restrooms, washing windows, working in laundry, checking units or training new employees.
Performs all other duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
No experience is required if applicant demonstrates a willingness to learn and work well with others. Housekeeping and customer service experience preferred. Must have a strong attention to detail.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Less than high school education; up to six months related experience or training. Individual must have ability to work flexible working hours including weekend, weekdays and holidays.
WORK ENVIRONMENT*
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Rubber gloves and face mask are provided as required or needed. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or ear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This job occasionally requires long working hours.

PROFIT SHARING INCENTIVE PROGRAM
There are two ways to earn profit-sharing grants: 1.) You are a full-time, year-round member of the BFB team during a profitable year, and 2.) You are still employed by BFB Management LLC when the grants pay out and have been continuously employed during that time.
A full-time employee is defined as a non-seasonal employee who worked 1,600 hours or more in the previous calendar year.
Eligible employees will receive two tiers of grants for each year grants are awarded: a two-year grant and a six-year grant. Grants will be funded after one year of full-time employment. However, grants will be not paid out until two years or six years of employment are met. Only during years that you meet the 1,600 hours requirement will grants be funded. This is a rolling program so long as you are continuously employed by BFB management.
Employee Lodging Program
Managers of Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts as well as full-time, year-round employees with a tenure one year of service are eligible for 2 nights of complimentary lodging at Bluefin or Surfside resort. Complimentary lodging must be taken between November and May.
