Orientation begins at dinner time on June 2 and will run a full week prior to the start of camp

A person eligible to work as a counselor at Blue Mountain Ranch must:

Job Requirements:

  • Complete an application

  • Request at least three letters of recommendation

  • Pass a criminal record background check, which includes submitting fingerprints to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation

  • Complete a CPR/First Aid Class

  • Pass a physical examination

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

  • Be at least 18 years of age and/or entering their sophomore year of college

  • Agree to the terms of the Blue Mountain Ranch contract

Job Expectations:

  • Be able to teach/facilitate 4 activities a day

  • Fulfill the agreed upon days/camp terms of work established at the time of hire

  • Be responsible for supervision of a camp cabin of 6 children anywhere in age from 7 to 16 years.  This responsibility includes camper health & safety, camper discipline, camper hygiene, as well as camper guidance and mentoring  

  • Be willing to show up for orientation one week prior to the start of first term

  • Have a positive attitude towards youth

  • Work collaboratively with other counselors in both a cabin and activity settings 

  • Follow all camp rules and regulations

  • Ability to address stressful situations appropriately in a fast-paced environment.

Blue Mountain Ranch is a third-generation owned and operated summer camp that is located just outside Florissant, CO. For the past 76 years BMR has been enriching the lives of children from across the country and globe. BMR is a co-educational camp for children ages 7-15 years old who are placed in cabins based on their age. Our campers gain independence and confidence through the ability to choose their daily activities. We encourage our campers to try as many activities as possible, including an activity they have never tried before. Campers should leave camp having learned a new skill. With our emphasis being participation over competition we provide a welcoming environment for all children. Blue Mountain Ranch is a fun safe place for kids to be kids and disconnect from technology and reconnect with childhood in the great Colorado outdoors.
