Summer Residential Camp Assistant Director

Job Description

Are you passionate about creating an unforgettable summer experience for campers and their families? Our Assistant Directors are the heart of our overnight camps, ensuring every camper has a seamless, exciting, and supportive experience from start to finish. At our Blue Sky and Windy Peak locations, you’ll step into a leadership role that blends customer service, logistics, and hands-on program support, making sure families feel informed, staff feel empowered, and campers have the best summer of their lives. Whether you’re welcoming families on opening day, mentoring seasonal staff, or supporting campers in the field, you’ll play an essential role in keeping camp running smoothly. You’ll be responsible for behind-the-scenes logistics, from uploading camper photos and responding to emails to leading camper drop-off and pick-up days. Assistant Directors lead by example, fostering meaningful relationships with staff, parents, and campers while ensuring that every moment at camp aligns with our mission to inspire kids to live active, outdoor lifestyles. Programs begin between May and June, location depending, and run through mid-August.

Qualifications

All Camp Leadership must qualify to drive camp vehicles, meaning staff must be at least 20 years old by the start of camp and have a valid driver’s license. Prior customer service experience is required, and candidates should feel comfortable communicating with families and providing a high level of support. Expertise in at least one core sport—paddling, hiking, climbing, or mountain biking—is a must-have! While prior experience working with youth is beneficial, candidates with extensive experience in these outdoor activities are still highly encouraged to apply. A CPR and First Aid certification is required by the start of camp, but we’ll point you in the right direction to get certified before camp begins. Wilderness First Aid (WFA, WFR, or EMT) and CPR certification are preferred.
